Taiwan stocks closed 0.27 percent higher on Saturday, with LCD panel makers and computer makers among the biggest gainers, up 1.5 percent and 0.8 percent respectively. The main TAIEX index rose 20.21 points to 7,540.14, after opening up 0.23 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.082 to stand at T$29.040.

Taiwan's financial markets are open on Saturday to make up a holiday for December 31. Taiwan government, companies and financial markets are closed on December 31 and January 1, 2013 for the new year holidays.
